Wanderbus – Needs New Volunteers

WANDERBUS NEEDS MORE VOLUNTEER DRIVERS!

COULD YOU CONSIDER GIVING UP SOME TIME TO HELP US MAINTAIN A COMMUNITY BUS SERVICES?

WANDERBUS IS RUN TOTALLY BY VOLUNTEERS AND THEY ARE NOW SEEKING ADDITONAL DRIVERS.

ROUTES: Wanderbus provides fixed morning weekday routes to the residents of the towns and villages around Shefford & Stotfold with destinations including Bedford, Biggleswade, Cambridge, Hitchin, Milton Keynes, St Albans, St Neots & Welwyn Garden City.

REQUIREMENTS: Wanderbus needs additional volunteer drivers to take on a particular route – normally they can let you choose – on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. How often you drive will be entirely up to you and, usually, they can fit you into a rosta programme to suit your other commitments.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DRIVE? You need to be under 75 and have Category D1 on your driving licence. This will be common if you are in the older generation age group but it can be applied for from the DVLA so age need not be a restriction.

WHAT WANDERBUS OFFER? Full on the job training will be provided and you can accompany a driver on a service to understand more of the role. You will never be asked to drive on your own until you are entirely comfortable about doing so.

WHAT YOU GET BACK? Passengers are generally in the older age group and are most grateful for the services provided. It is a very social, friendly atmosphere on the buses and you will quickly get to know your regulars who will express their gratitude. It is a very rewarding service that we provide and will give you much satisfaction in helping.
